Hello, World – Introducing Digital Art Kiwi & the Man Behind the Lens

Welcome to Digital Art Kiwi.

This is the first post on this site, and if you’ve found your way here, thank you. Whether you're a fellow photographer, an art lover, or someone who just really enjoys looking at a good waterfall, I’m glad you’re with me.

So, who am I, and why does this website exist?

My name is Martyn Cook. By day (and most nights), I’m a web developer – the creator of PODify+, which is the engine running this site. But my other creative heartbeat is photography.

I’m a member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ), and I was proud to earn my LPSNZ distinction back in 2016. But those letters aren't what drive me. What drives me is the quiet patience of a still life, the shock of orange under a kea’s wing, the way a South Island waterfall turns to silk in a long exposure.

My partner, our dog, and I have recently broken free from the shackles of the consume or be consumed lifestyle and have opted for a life on the road. Over the coming years we plan to find all the great little nooks and crannies of New Zealand, primarily the South Island, and spend as much time as possible just 'being' amongst nature, oh and every Rock 'n' Roll dance we can get to :). I will of course have my camera's standing by at every possible opportunity.

Digital Art Kiwi is where those two worlds – the technical (code, e-commerce, print-on-demand) and the artistic (composition, emotion, the hunt for the right light) – finally meet.

Here you’ll find my work available as:

  • Fine art prints & limited editions
  • Framed canvases
  • Art posters & digital downloads
  • Even jigsaw puzzles (because some images are meant to be pieced together slowly)

You can browse the Gallery to see landscapes, portraits, nature, architecture, street, and still life. And if something speaks to you, the Products section is where it can find a wall, a desk, or a coffee table in your home.

Over time, this blog will be more than just announcements. I plan to share behind-the-scenes stories from shoots around New Zealand, thoughts on composition and editing, and maybe even a few lessons learned along the way.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you see something here that feels like it was made for you.

Cheers,
Martyn
