The Pentax-A 28-80mm f/3.5-4.5 is a manual-focus standard zoom from the late 1980s, designed as an affordable walkaround lens for Pentax K-mount film SLRs. It is important to note that this lens exists in two distinct versions: a standard non-SMC model and a superior SMC (Super Multi-Coated) variant with a more complex optical formula. The non-SMC version, which was produced from roughly 1989 to 1994, is the more common and budget-friendly option.
