The Kodak Vest Pocket Model B is a fascinating piece of photographic history that prioritizes extreme portability. While it's a functional camera, its true value today lies more in its role as a historical artifact than as a primary tool for modern photography.

Produced by Eastman Kodak from 1925 to 1934, the Vest Pocket Model B was designed to be a "soldier's camera" that could literally fit in a vest pocket. Its compact dimensions of approximately 125 x 71.5 x 27 mm when folded are genuinely impressive, making it smaller than many modern compact cameras.

Iconic "Autographic" Feature: Many versions of this camera, including the one in your photos (indicated by the small window on the back), feature the "Autographic" system. This clever design allowed photographers to write notes directly onto the film's paper backing using a stylus, creating a permanent record on the negative itself. This feature was incredibly popular and was used on over 1.75 million of the earlier Vest Pocket models.

Film Format: It uses 127 roll film, which was first introduced with this camera series. It produces eight medium-format-sized negatives of 4 x 6.5 cm per roll.

Material & Construction: The body is covered in black leatherette over a metal housing, giving it a robust feel for its size. The front standard folds down on a metal baseboard, revealing the characteristic leatherette bellows.
