The Hanimex Sound 400XL is a charming piece of late-1970s cine history, offering a capable and surprisingly feature-rich entry into Super 8 filmmaking. Marketed in 1977-78, this camera is actually a rebadged Cosina MS-4000 XL Magic Sound, which explains its solid Japanese build quality and reliable performance. Its standout feature is the single-system magnetic sound recording, a game-changer for home movie enthusiasts of the era, allowing for synchronized audio to be captured directly onto the film.
