A classic piece of mid-century amateur filmmaking history.

The Bell & Howell Filmo Sportster was a cornerstone of home movie making, produced from 1939 to 1970 in various models and configurations. This specific camera is the Model 605, manufactured in England by Bell & Howell-Gaumont, a detail confirmed by the red and silver exposure dial on the side.

Its construction is a testament to its era: it features a heavy, cast-metal body with a distinct "crinkle" finish. This gives it a very solid, dependable feel, though it is notably heavy for its compact size. The camera's design emphasizes function, with a ribbed side panel and a prominent winding key for its clockwork motor.
