Windswept and Interesting

Oreti Beach is a long, sweeping expanse of hard-packed sand and wild coastline located on the southern coast of New Zealand's South Island. It stretches for approximately 26 kilometres west of the city of Invercargill, offering vast, uninterrupted views of the Foveaux Strait and Stewart Island/Rakiura.

Its key characteristics are its immense scale, windswept beauty, and sense of remote solitude. The hard sand makes it a famous location for land yachting and, historically, for car and motorcycle speed trials, including those by world-famous Burt Munro, as depicted in the film The World's Fastest Indian.
